    Faulty MSNBC.com (Firefox 1.04)

I had started this before (I think), but I couldn't find the d--- thread, so:

Users of Firefox out there, if you go to msnbc.com, you (should) notice that the graphics are real jumpy until they "settle in"...

This is, I think, *just because* you're not using IE...

There's a User Agent switcher extension http://chrispederick.com/work/firefo...agentswitcher/ , that allows picking IE as the agent. When you do, a LOT of the problem goes away...

    Fooey...

I think it's probably something in the third party advertiser's scripts that is misconfigured for Firefox. Presumably they'll figure it out some day. At least the "real" graphics behave normally.

I noticed that too. I like MSNBC but I chose another home page because of the picture jumping. At first I thought something else was wrong with my computer.

Thank you for the tip, I just installed it and I hope it works, which I believe it will.

I hate to be the bearer of ill tidings, Chuck. The fix Did Not Work, the pictures are still flickering. Perhaps not as much as previously, but flickering never-the-less.

Well! Back to the drawing board.

    Gloria et al:

I just installed the latest Firefox version (1.06) plus attendant AI Roboform extension upgrade, and the homepage seems at first blush a good deal more stable...

    Re: Faulty MSNBC.com (Firefox 1.04)

    Hi Chuck,
I'm just a wee bit late with this information. I uninstalled Firefox 1.0.5 via Add/Remove in control panel. Downloaded & instlaled version 1.0.6. To my amazement all of my prior extensions where still there.

I selected the AI Roboform extension and clicked update and update 6.3.85 was found and installed. MSNBC was steady as a rock, so I believe the problem was fixed with the new updated Firefox..

By the way, have you seen the information on Firefox Security and Privacy on informit.com? For the new user, it expains how to set up privacy options in Firefox. In case someone wants to view it, here's the URL:

    http://www.informit.com/articles/article.a...3&seqNum=3&rl=1

Sorry, I haven't learned how to make it clickable.

    Re: Faulty MSNBC.com (Firefox 1.04)

    Gloria:

Glad (for you and me both) that the upgrade seems to have taken... The one thing you sometimes need is patience with Roboform, since their updates lag behind (logically) Firefox changes, but, oh well.

    >>Sorry, I haven't learned how to make it clickable.<<

When you're composing, take a look at the 1-Click Tag Panel at the Compose window header. Most of the choices are (thankfully) both self-explanatory and useful.

    Regards,
    Chuck

I think Chuck meant the link immediately above the compose window. See the illustration attached.
