    Boxes around text (Word 2003)

Subject edited by HansV to help future searches

I typed a paper and inadvertently hit a button, this created cells apparently around my text changing my format. It seems to be engaged with every paper I am typing. Can someone tell me how to turn this off. The text appeared in boxes when I sent in my paper to my instructor but didn't show up on mine.

    Thank you

Like in the pic below? That would be the drawing grid (Drawing toolbar > "Draw" menu > Drawing grid).

If you switch your view, for example, from Normal to Print Layout or vice versa, do you see any lines, boxes, cells, fields, etc.? If not, could you post a short sample?

I want to thank all of you for your help, it appears that I inserted a table with one cell it has never been visible to me when I sent it out it was visible to my instructor. When he sent it back I still could not see the boxes he was referring to. I have fixed the problem by converting table to text.

You can change whether you see Table gridlines or not on the Table menu by toggling on or off show or hide gridlines. It sounds as though you and your instructor have this set differently.
