    Type mismatch error (Access 03)

I can't find the type mismatch error. This code has worked for a long time. The only thing different is on the following line

If txtClassification = "Staff" Or txtClassification = "Inhouse Agency" Then

recently I added the "Inhouse Agency" section.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thank you. Fay

Do you get the type mismatch error on the line you cite? I don't get an error there. If not, where does the error occur?

Re: Type mismatch error (Access 03)

This is interesting. I was getting the error message when I added a Staff or Inhouse Agency in the Classification combo box. Now I am not getting the error when I use the version I sent to the lounge. Now I don'e know what to say. All I did was make a copy of the database and then deleted everything but what I needed to ask my question. So how do I trouble shoot it from here.

On which line do you get the error in the full version of your database?

Re: Type mismatch error (Access 03)

    NewID = Format(Right(OldID, 3) + 1, "000")

I found an old version of the database and the form worked correctly. I then imported the form in question into the "good" database from the old version. At which time I got the error again.

So I have to ask if there could be a problem the database that is causing this problem. Would it be a good idea to create a blank database and import everything into it?

I just imported everything into a new database and still have the same break point as indicated above. Fay

Importing everything into a blank new database won't hurt, and it may solve some problems. But I cannot guarantee that it will solve the type mismatch problem.

Is OldID a text field or numeric?

Since the stripped down database does not have the problem, you could try making a copy of the problem database, and perform the stripping down step by step, and checking after each step if the problem has gone. Although time consuming, this may give you an idea where the cause lies.

Yeah that is what I thought you would say.

The oldID is a text field.

I got it figured out. I had marked a questionable record with *** in the base table. Thanks for your help I got my act together now, I think. Again thank you for your time. Fay

Glad you found it - things like that can be hard to spot.
