    Project problems with Office 97 (2000 sp-3/ 98SE)

I've been using Word 2000 to work on the VBA in a project originally done in 97. Now when the owner tries to run it, they receive an error that the shared file VEENLR3.HLP was not found. They tried a reinstall of Office 97 and apparently it's still not there. I have a copy of it myself, from an old 97 installation, but I fear that simply dropping it in will only lead on to the next "not found" error.

    Any suggestions most welcome.

It might be a missing references problem. Let them select Tools | References... in the Visual Basic Editor. If there are references starting with MISSING, their check boxes should be cleared.

Thanks Hans. That's quite a likely one, since I have no idea of how my 2000 references should "translate" to their 97 setup. I also mined up WD97: Cannot Find Veenlr3.hlp After Typical Installation, which is a second option I guess. I'll see what transpires.

Veenlr3.hlp does not load unless the user does a full install from the CD. So if they still have the disk thay can update

The file can be found the Office CD in:

    OSMSAPPSVBA

    Re: Project problems with Office 97 (2000 sp-3/ 98SE)

My 2000 VBA project contains the following references:

    Visual Basic For Applications
    Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library
    Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
    Normal
    TemplateProject
    Microsoft Office 9.0 Object Library
    OLE Automation

Other than the TemplateProject, these are all "defaults" in my Word 9.0 VBA I believe. I can't seem to locate a list of "equivalents" for Office 97, to suggest to the other party. Do you (or anybody) know of an online reference please?

Office 97 was version 8.0. Forms is added when you first add a userform to the project, otherwise it would have to be added manually. I could probably boot up a very old laptop and look at Word 97 as I had it back then, but without a clean install, there's no way to say what the "out of the box" default should look like.

Thanks Jefferson! That would be greatly appreciated. I don't necessarily need the defaults, just the "probable" names of the corresponding reference libraries in 97, for them to check when they try to load/ run the document i.e. the likely equivalents for :

    Visual Basic For Applications
    Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library
    Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
    Microsoft Office 9.0 Object Library
    OLE Automation

    Many thanks.

    <table border=1><td>Office 2000</td><td>Office 97</td><td>Visual Basic For Applications</td><td>Visual Basic For Applications</td><td>Microsoft Word 9.0 Object Library</td><td>Microsoft Word 8.0 Object Library</td><td>Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library</td><td>Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library</td><td>Microsoft Office 9.0 Object Library</td><td>Microsoft Office 8.0 Object Library</td><td>OLE Automation</td><td>probably not needed</td></table>
I would clear the OLE Automation reference, it is created in Office 2000+ by default, but chances are you don't need it.

OK, thanks Hans. I'll pass all that on and hopefully they'll be able to use it OK.
