Re: Multiple Individual Adresses (Outlook 2003)

This is MS trying to be helpful; XP+ have improved capabilities to handle up to three email addresses (and to operate as a fax client on a Server, but not on a standalone machine). If you go to your Contacts folder and select your target Contacts, then select Actions | New message to Contact, the primary address is chosen. HTH.

Sorry John - I must be missing something The suggested solution only seems to relate to one address at a time but not a list.

Re: Multiple Individual Adresses (Outlook 2003)

Users can select multiple contiguous Contacts at one time by clicking the first and shift-clicking the last, or they can select multiple non-contiguous Contacts by Ctrl-clicking each one, then use the menu as above, and the primary address for every selected Contact will be put in the TO field in a blank message in a compose window. Does that help?

(I hope so, otherwise Welcome to the Lounge! sounds a bit hollow.)

    Multiple Individual Adresses (Outlook 2003)

Edited by HansV to crop large screenshot - please don't post images over 640x480 in size

I upgraded from Outlook 2000 to 2003 and found an annoying problem not inherent in the former program. On doing a multiple mail-out, rather than listing a single instance for an individual based on that individual's prime e-mail address, Outlook 2003 takes it upon itself to list all e-mail addresses plus fax numbers for that individual resulting in multiple instances of an individual's name. Is there anyway that I can get Outlook 2003 to behave like Outlook in its single individual listing (and with it the individual's prime e-mail address) functionality without having to going back to using Outlook 2000 with all the problems that entails?

Yes but if using the click-shift option what it does is to select all the names (regardless as to whether they have e-mail addresses or not - after all it is an address book) and puts them all into the "To" header. Using the standard Outlook 2000 method (no longer available with Outlook 32003), those names without e-mail addresses are automatically weeded out. And most importantly they go into the "Bcc" header where I intend them to be. Nevertheless, I am still grateful for a workable solution that you have provided me

Yes, the shift-click selection is not much use, but ctrl-clicking is useful.

    BTW, here

are some threads on things you can do to either clarify or eliminate the fax number listings, if they are of interest to you.

Re: Multiple Individual Adresses (Outlook 2003)

Obviously this is a problem experienced by many users. I am a simple soul. I can't see why MSoft can't have a facility once all the addresses are copied over to the "To:" header (in my case the preferred "Bcc" header) why it is not possible to "select" the whole copied list, "right click" the "selection" do a search for "fax" and then delete all the "fax" entries in the list. The macro solution or modifying the fax numbers may only be partial solution as sometimes there is a use for fax numbers (which in my case I can no longer use having upgraded from dial-up to broadband - but that is a different topic). Also the Sperry Software fix for faxes still does not fix multiple e-mail addresses in the list. But as already noted you have provided me with a work around. Cheers.
