Hyperlink for Outlook Meeting Request (2003)

I have a web page that I want to add a link to a meeting request with an e-mail address that is a resource. I know I can use xxxx to fill in message box with the To filed displaying xxxx. But does anyone know how to do one for a meeting request that will fill in the Resources field with the e-mail address?

I don't follow the question. In my company certain meeting rooms are Resources which already have their own address, so the hyperlink would be the same as in your example, something like:

Southeast Corner Conference Room
-John ... I float in liquid gardens
UTC -7ąDS

On the internal website it lists "Room 123". I need to add a link to "Room 123" that will automatically open a "meeting request" with the conference rooms' email address in the resources field. If I use

Room 123

then it will open up a "message" with xxx@xxx.com in the To: field.

Ah, now I understand, but I don't know how to do what your are asking. <!mskb=158135>Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 158135<!/mskb> and MS Office Online>Outlook>Hyperlinks did not immediately help. Anyone else?

FWIW, I can open an Outlook Public Folder Calendar with this:
Southeast Corner Conference Room Calendar
but I don't know how to fire a new Meeting Request on that Calendar.

Does the concept of a template apply to a meeting request? If you compose a message, you can save it as template (.OFT file). If that is true for a meeting request, you could save that on your server and let users open it to create a new message. (In theory -- I haven't tested this.)

I'm testing it now, but I don't know HTML, so I can open the file:

<file://fs1usersTemplateSE Corner Conf Cal.oft>

but I can't get the correct ... /a> syntax - it keeps wanting to open a web page instead of the file.

This reminds me of the problem a few years ago with launching Word templates as new documents, or Excel sheets in Excel rather than the browser. I posted a solution that used VBScript and the Shell, which might not pass muster under modern security restrictions. Old references:

Re: Hyperlink for Outlook Meeting Request (2003)

Hi Dawn

I have resource booking on our intranet. On our Global Address list, I have The rooms listed as HH-Room1, HH-Room2 etc. This is the Display name of the resource. If you find the meeting room resource on you address list, right hand mouse click the name and select Properties then the general tab, it will show the details of the resource.

The image below shows the properties window. The actual SMTP address for this particular example is XDHSHH3rdRm304 therefore the email address for external users would be XDHSHH3rdRm304@mycompany.co.uk

You will have to configure your resource to allow certain things to occur when a "Guest" makes a request.

Hope this helps
Jerry
