Can you locate a folder where update files are stored temporarily? Most AV programs let you exclude a folder from real-time scanning.

    jscher2000,

    Thanks for the reply.

Not sure if I could locate that folder or not but I don't believe it is the AV program causing the problem. I uninstalled the AV and there was still Internet activity which I believe was caused by the QuickBook Pro program. I tried updating it and shutting off automatic updates but the problem persists. I have tried everything I can think of without uninstalling the QB program itself because that, for various and too lengthy reasons, is not an option at this time and probably never.

    hlewton,

If you open Norton AV and click on Options>Norton Anti Virus>System, there should be an "exclusions" tab.
Click on that and you will see an exclusion list. If you have no exclusions at this point, it will be blank.
Click on "add" and fill in the name of the file or folder you wish to exclude from the system scan. OK out.

    Today it is called golf!
