    FTP - automation

    Hi,

Don't know if this is the right forum for this...? (If not... - apologies..)

Is it possible on an FTP site, to monitor a dedicated folder and in case a new file is added, to have the file transferred to another folder on another server, subsequently upon completion of the transfer to delete the file on the first srever.
    - the intention is that this should work as an automated proces that runs 24-7-365.
    Bests,
    RD

I'm not sure about having the process fire when the folder contents changes, but you could easily set a scheduled task to run every few minutes. You can write a script, batch file, or application to be executed that checks the contents of the specified folder, then performs the necessary tasks when the folder is not empty (copy all files to desired folder, delete files from original folder, etc.).

    Hope this helps

    OK thanks,

As this is rather new territory to me, would you happen to know of any good sites or samples to get started on?
    - any sort of hints are appreciated...

Here's a MSDN article about Task Scheduling: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;305613

Here is the MSDN home on Windows Scripting Host: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....sScriptHost.asp
WSH is probably one of the quicker tools to apply in this case - unless you're already comfortable coding in another language/environment. If this doesn't give you the level of help you're looking for, try Googling for 'Windows Scripting Host tutorial' or something like that.

If it doesn't have to be FTP, and you can map the two drives as network drives, then something like Microsoft's ROBOCOPY would spring to my mind (permissions permitting...)!
