Wildcard dictionary search (Word 2000 SR-1)

    Hi,
Is there a way that I can use wildcards to search for words in the dictionary or thesaurus.
For example if I typed a???w* I would expect words like arrow, arrowroot, arrowhead etc to appear.
    Thanks in advance.

Not as far as I know. There may be third-party dictionary/thesaurus add-ins that offer this capability.

    Thanks Hans,
I figured that it wasn't possible, but thought I'd ask anyway.
If my memory doesn't fail me, I think this functionality was in an early version of Wordstar, possibly in CP/M days.

There is a tool called The electronic alveary that does this, depending on your needs the evaluation version may be enough, otherwise you'd have to pay for it.

Fellow-Lounger <!profile=DenGar>DenGar<!/profile> just posted in the Software Finds and Wants forum about a freeware dictionary/thesaurus that has a wildcard search feature. See <!post=TheSage,503578>TheSage<!/post>.

    Thanks Hans,
I'm currently downloading the "Sage" and "TEA Crossword helper" suggestions.
My father-in-law likes doing crossword puzzles, and his Franklin hand held word finder does not have a large word list so I'mm trying to find something he can use on his PC.
