Windows Update Page Freezes (IE v6.0)

When I go to the Windows Update page it starts out with, "Checking if your computer has the latest version of Windows updating software for use with this website". When I click on the page again, the "hour glass" cursor comes on and the page does nothing. I use WinXP Pro SP2. I have updates set at "notify don't update". Wasn't sure to post this here or the WinXP forum. Any help appreciated !!!!!

It might take a few minutes for the detection/update process. Beyond that, perhaps something is being blocked. Normally IE will inform you if your browser settings are blocking something important, but just in case, you could add *.microsoft.com to your Trusted Sites list. (Clear the box to require HTTPS for all sites in the Trusted zone.)

Do you have any third party software (e.g., browser plug-in, firewall, etc.) running that might block pop-ups or ActiveX controls?

Have you checked out any of the links in the left panel? BTW, are you using Windows Update or Microsoft Update?
