Could you test whether you can execute

Set rst = Me.RecordsetClone

successfully in
- another bound form in the same database
- a bound form in another database (with a reference to DAO 3.6)

Re: ActiveX component can

After further review I found the following that I though I had removed

Everythings OK

Thanks, John

Private Sub Form_Open(Cancel As Integer)
' Use ADO read-only recordset
' as recordsource.
Dim rst As ADODB.Recordset
Set rst = New ADODB.Recordset
rst.Open "Shippers", CurrentProject.Connection, _
adOpenStatic, adLockPessimistic
Set Me.Recordset = rst
Set rst = Nothing
End Sub

Yes, that would explain it. You can't create a DAO recordsetclone of an ADO recordset.
