    Linked Tables (Access 2000)

I have a database that contains several linked tables. Most are to Excel spreadsheets. What I am looking for is a way to programmatically verify that the link is valid. I have some old DAO code that I used for checking the link to another Access db.

    What I am wondering is
    1. Will this code work for Excel?
    2. Is there a way to verify the link with out using DAO?

    Thanks
    Richard

    Re: Linked Tables (Access 2000)

You can adapt the DAO code for linked Excel tables; the Connect property for such a table looks like this:

    "Excel 5.0;HDR=YES;IMEX=2;DATABASE=C:ExcelWorkbook.xls;TA BLE=Sheet1$"

It's also possible to use ADOX to check and refresh links, but as <!profile=MarkD>MarkD<!/profile> notes in <post#=229,125>post 229,125</post: >, it is much slower than DAO and causes more bloat in database size.
