ATI Rage 128 Pro driver (WinXP Pro sp2)

I just did some support on a Dell system with an ATI Rage 128 Pro display adapter. I ran Microsoft Update and it listed an update available for an ATI Rage 128 Pro. I let it do the download and update but after it rebooted the screen resolution was set to 640x480 with 4 bit color. I tried changing it back to the proper settings but it was stuck here. I finally got a hold of a MS support person who had me go into Add/Remove programs and delete the driver. That worked. It's up and running now but it looks like MS is distributing a bad driver. Sorry, don't know the version of the driver. It's long gone.
    Thanks,

    C DeWitt

No, the driver is most likely older than the one from the OEM that was already installed. It takes to much time to get them approved by MS.

    NOTE
NEVER download any drivers from Windows or MS Update, ALWAYS use the ones from the OEM.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Even though it is old, you should get the driver from ATI - Rage Pro for XP
