    Form question (2000)

I have a form. Its control source is a totals query. I use it to "Filter by Form". Every time I open the form, or do anything, it runs the query. This makes using the form cumbersome and not very user friendly. I have other forms that have a query behind them and they don't run the query when you open them. Am I wrong or am I missing something. The form loads like a report.

What exactly do you mean by "it runs the query"? And by "The form loads like a report"?

Each time a form or report bound to a table or query is opened, it reads the records. This is by design, in order to display the up-to-date state of affairs. If the query involves many complicated calculations, it may take a while.
