    Norton GoBack 4 (Home/SP2)

    Frustrated me. Hello, All.

I installed GoBack 4 after reading that it was fine to use with WinXP. However, after a day of usage, I received a Stop c000021a code. I called Dell and we disabled GoBack. The techie said this was a known problem (apparently System Restore and GoBack conflict, if I understood correctly) and that there was a patch for it. However, searching both the Symantec and MS site, I couldn't find any reference to
the patch. (I'm running Dell Dimension 2400). (The most recent info on the Knowledge Base is from 2003 and doesn't mention a patch at all; only to roll back the NVidia drivers,,,,)

    Thank you for any guidance.

    Curious,
There has been a soft conflict between GoBack and XP for some time now.

I don't know of any patch for this.but I suppose you could disable System Restore by right clicking "my computer" then click properties. there should be a box to check that says "turn off system restore for all drives". At least you could see if this is definitely a clash between the two.

As a long time user of GoBack from before the time Norton bought it, I think if I had to choose between the two NOW, I would keep System Restore and not use GoBack.

I now use Acronis True Image to image my drives and no longer use GoBack at all.

    Thanks, Bob.

I so prefer GoBack because you can choose which files to restore. Guess I'll have to return GoBack. Appreciate your response.

System Restore doesn't restore individual files but that's one of the features of True Image. You can do all or one or some.
