    Of the following numbers, which is the odd one out?

    43, 26, 50, 37, 17, 82

    2#
    Decipher this sentence (Underscores represent spaces):

    IHT_OU_D_AEPPPASH

    3#
    Alf has a triangular, Royal Blue coloured dining table in his house. The three sides of the table are 13, 17 and 43 inches long respectively. He wants to change the colour of the table to Olive Green. According to the painter, 50ml of paint per square inch of the table is required for that.

    How much paint is required to change the color of the table to Olive Green?

    4#
    Three friends divided some bullets equally. After all of them shot 4 bullets the total number of bullets remaining is equal to the bullets each had after division. Find the original number of bullets.

    5#
    The letters P, Q, R, S, T, U and V, not necessarily in that order represents seven consecutive integers from 22 to 33.

    * U is as much less than Q as R is greater than S.
    * V is greater than U.
    * Q is the middle term.
    * P is 3 greater than S.

    Give the sequence of letters, lowest to highest.

    Nice shooting, Hans I forgot to mention in 3# that it was a non-Euclidian triangular table. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Oh. I'm afraid I've let all my non-Euclidean paint dry out.

    Rob

    I see Alf has "triangular" table, if he is to have this triangle, it therefore must be a non-euclidean table. For me/us to solve this puzzle we must have more information. The types of info. required are the spherical excess of the triangle as the angles will be greater that 180 degrees as in euclidean geometry and also the radius of the sphere in which his triangular table sits upon. I can calculate the spherical excess with the info you have given us but will not be able to do the rest unless I have the radius.

    And to make things even harder, he wants the amount of paint required in non-Euclideam millilitres!

    Re: Another Handful

    Hi Alan

    Well I played with this puzzle last night after mailing my response I went through the equation. My equation was assuming that the non-euclidean table was a sphere. This it cannot be as the equation came out to a square root of a negative. I am therefore assuming that the triangular table must form part of a hyperbolic curve and without more information it cannot be calculated.
