Delayed Keystrokes on login (XP SP2)

There are 2 accounts, my main account and guest. Whenever I boot up, the first time I type in my login on the main account password, the keystrokes are delayed. I have to hold the key down for 3/4 of a second (or so), the letter goes in and I go to the next. Once I have logged in this delay disappears and I can type normally
If I just click on the guest and then come back to my own login this does not happen.
I have a MS wireless keyboard but it was happening with a standard PS2 keyboard.
I could put in a shorter password but I would really like to solve this.
Any suggestions for the brain trust at Woody's lounge?

It is probably just the amount of programs that are being started when you boot the system. On some systems the keyboard can be unresponsive or sluggish for quite a while.
