    Robocopy Vs Xcopy

    Hi all,

Just wanna gets some info on the differences between Robocopy and xcopy. I've used xcopy before and found that this option is quite good to copying files across HDDs or via network.
I want to know what the differences and the advantages vs disadvantages robocopy has over xcopy, and if anyone knows a site or a study guide to download instructions on how to use robocopy?

    Cheers,

    Re: Robocopy Vs Xcopy

ROBOCOPY, like XXCOPY, is considerably more sophisticated than XCOPY, if only because of the number of available switches! Have a look at XXCOPY's Summary Features. Also see Simon Sheppard's brief writeup on ROBOCOPY switches. These give you some idea of capabilities

I've used ROBOCOPY a fair bit for copying across the network. When you find ROBOCOPY.EXE (the XP010 version is the best one) you should also find the ROBOCOPY.DOC Word document (about 35 pages).
