Closing one workbook closes all (Excel 2000)

Subject edited by HansV - "Excel 2000 (Excel 2000)" was not very descriptive

I open one Excel document with three different work sheets, and open another Excel document document with three different work sheets and when I want to close one Excel document that I am done with, both Excel documents close. Is there a way of only closing one Excel document at a time?

There are 2 close buttons in the upper right corner of the Excel window - one for Excel as a whole, one for the active workbook. If you click the upper one, you will quit Excel, closing all open workbooks. If you click the lower one, or select File | Close, you will close only the active workbook.
