    Gridlocked

Attached is an Excel spreadsheet that will be required to answer this puzzle. The image below shows the pattern that must be created.

Instructions: Click in any square in the Excel spreadsheet to change the colour of the surrounding squares and continue to do so until you have the image below. Your answer should be in the order of what squares you clicked ie A1D2A3C4

    1) What is the order?
    2) What is the minimum number of steps required?

PS Big thanks to Hans as he helped me with the first part of the code

If you make a mistake there is a macro called ClearAll in the tools menu

    Nice one Hans

I have a slightly different answer, I wonder if anyone can find an alternative?

    Re: Gridlocked

    Ah, well done Hans. I had the same <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">six</span hide> steps but in the wrong order, so I kept ending up with the image below. <img src=/S/stupidme.gif border=0 alt=stupidme width=30 height=30>
    I kept doing <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">F2 F4 B5 B3 D3 D4</span hide> - then I'd clear the screen and do exactly the same again!!

    Re: Gridlocked

    Well, you can do the <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">F2 F4</span hide> before the <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">B3 B5</span hide> as the affected cells are independent of one another, giving you
    <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">F2 F4 B3 B5 D4 D3</span hide>. But I'm guessing that your solution is different again, Jezza?

    Re: Gridlocked

That will do Waggers old boy. In my innocence when creating this I hadn't realised there were going to be so many alternatives. I have another so i think I will let this run and see what others we can get. In the meantime Gridlocked 2 has been created!!!
