    Places bar (XP-Pro)

I've got TwekUIXP installed and am trying to mdify the Places bar under the Common Dialogs topic.

I set it to "Custom, so that I wcould type in the path... but it beeps at me and stops when I reach the edge of tjhe input box, thererby not allowing enough room...

I am/was re-installing everything after my RC Cutoff issue... do I have to have Office installed to take advantage of this feature of TweakUIXP?

What have I got to do to fix this?

You can use RegEdit to set the values. See Edit the Places bar locations in Open/Save As boxes.

    Hans:

THAT is, as they say, "the cat's meow!". Thanks "ever so much", as they say.

I a lot of ways its more versatile that the Powertoys.

Now the only thing that would make it better is if we could make the boxes small.

Did you ever see WOPR's utils for Office 2000? When you set up the places bar there, you could choose to have the boxes small, so then you had room for 10 items.

Any idea how they accomplished THAT?

    Chuck

The "small icons" option is built into the Office open/save dialogs - you can set it yourself by right-clicking the My Places bar.
The Windows XP open/save dialog doesn't have this feature. Perhaps in Windows Vista, the next version slated for release late 2006?
