    Excel Filters (Excel 2003)

Hi all, back with a question after 3 years away!!
I have a simple spreadsheet with automatic filtering switched on. Normally when I filter I get a message in the status bar such as '3 record out of 400 found'. Sadly on this spreadsheet I get no such message, I simply get 'Filter mode' showing instead.

I have other spread-sheets working fine, this one does not?

    Welcome back!

In my version of Excel (2002), the status bar shows "m of n records" found immediately after setting or changing a filter, but it changes to "Filter Mode" after any other action (entering a value, switching between workbooks...)

mine does this normally, without another action the numbers normally stay there for about 5 or six seconds, then they change back to 'filter mode'. However this spreadsheet displays filter mode immediately!

MS has an article on some of the reasons:The AutoFilter status bar displays the "Filter Mode" message in Excel.

Wonderful. I followed it up in the link you provided and it worked. I knew someone here could help me sort it out.

    Many many thanks indeed.

Does this workbook/worksheet have event code that might interfere?

Added: see the link provided by sdckapr.

Hans - no it doesn't. But I now have the answer. See previous message.
