Keyboard Freeze - Virus?

Hey there, havn't been about for a while, recently encountered a problem - my keyboard freezes, i am lead to believe it is a virus, the keyboard works fine in BIOS, and in safe mode but freezes during windows XP boot-up sequence, the num lock key will activate the light and then will freeze after a while at booting, at either light/off, i am clueless as to a definate casue though i have had a trojan horse appear on my computer recently, i think i removed it as Avast! scanner does not detect any viruses even with a thorough scan, though the keyboard remains frozen, if i go into the services menu and look under HID activation, it was uinitally disabled, so i re-enabled it and set it to start and i got Error 126: The speicified module could not be found, i am using a computer which is directly networked to the computer with the problem, i think it could be connected to a file in my temporary internet files with a rather odd name like 90kHbta8=++fbauY (you get the idea hehe) this file does not delete and when i deleted it under DOS it simply came back after reboot or if a program was loaded that utilised the temporary internet files folder, the keyboard isn't the problem as i have tried 2 different ones, it is a PS2 one, please post back rapidly as i am rapidly becoming distraught ( [img]/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif[/img] ) thank you guys,

P.S. I tried system restore and looked through MSCONFIG and found nothing out of the ordinary and also tried a simple diagnositc startup but encountered the same problem, yet it works in safe mode... i cannot find any ominous EXE files and SPybot, Ad-Awar and avast find nothing, i am truly baffled, when trying to delete the temporary internet file it doesnt actually display any error, it just doesnt go, even with refresh, it stays there...

Before jumping to a virus conclusion, did you try any or all of the usual fixes, such as making sure that the plug is secure in its socket, that the keyboard is not too old and now its time to get a new one, and all the "obvious" fixes?

I know there are many viruses that can make a keyboard malfunction, specially the keyloggers type, and since you say that it functions well under Safe mode, that means the plug is in and secure.

But that also tells us that when Windows loads a driver or a component that it needs, thing stop working the way they are supposed to.

I think it is a Windows conflict issue more than a virus at this point in time, so role back your Windows installation if you have installed something recently and see if that fixes the problem. Then check with the maker of the installed component for any fixes.

tried that no luk, ive done all the ez stuff... using onscreen kb now... trojan horse is back... sumthin is loadin s3xy.bz on logon then trojan comes...

A much better and more complete way to check your startups ( besides msconfig ) is to use this.

Not knowing just WHAT you really have installed or not or using, means I can't really sort through that HUGE pile of stuff you have in there and help you distinguish what has to be started and what doesn't.

I DID notice some duplications and some attempts to start but no DLL was found. Those can be dumped.

Did you carefully go through that list?

fixed it, took a long while of trawling through registry entrees but the feel of the keys crunching gently under my finger tips is somewhat satisfying as the words appear, ahhhhhhh freee! apparently it was either - a hardware conflict with a media card reader (my k/b isnt a usb one so i dont know why it would), or because of some registry setting i deleted or program i removed... *shrug*
