'List View' when searching (XP, 2)

When I search for a file (using Start / Search / For Files), Windows always gives me just icons instead of the "list" view that I prefer. Changing this (under the "View" menu) only works for the current search; next time I get the icons. How can I make "list" view the default?

I suspect that the Search window uses the default settings for Windows Explorer. Set an Explorer window the way you want, then select Tools | Folder Options..., activate the View tab.
Tick 'Remember each folder's view settings'.
Click the 'Like Current Folder' button.
