    Excel Configuration at Launch

I recently had to reinstall Office 2000 because of a virus. Now, when I
launch Excel, the Windows Installer box appears and is followed by "Please
wait while Windows configures Office 2000 SR1 Standard."

I have used the "Detect and Repair." function without benefit.

This does not happen with Word or PowerPoint.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The following might be worth trying. Go to Start, Run and enter the following command : excel.exe /regserver.

That should rebuild Excel's registry settings and may help.

As normal, before doing anything with the registry, back it up.

    Thanks!

"Run" couldn't find Excel.exe (altough it could find Winword and Powerpnt) so I reinstalled Office 2000 completely. All is well now.

    Thanks again.
