VLookUp (Office XP)

    Hans and all,

Can VLookUp return a value for : USA TREASURY BOND 5.675% BONDS 15/2/21 as NY ? If not, is there a marco which will do this. Appreciate yours guidance on this.

    Thanks Always, kun

You'll have to provide more information - what value do you want to look up, where do you want to look it up, where will the return value be found?

    BTW, it's macro, not marco.

    Hans,

    Oops, forgive my finger...

I have attached a dummy file. In sheet 3 of the file, I have specified the destinations . I would like to have the return value in col A ( Destination ) of sheet 1 when the said description appear in column B of sheet 1.
    Thanks Always, kun

In cell A2 (on Sheet1), enter this formula:

    =VLOOKUP(B2,Destination!$A$2:$B$11,2,FALSE)

and fill down as far as necessary.

    Hans

Thanks, it excellent. I don't understand why it won't work when I tried it earlier using the same formula?? I thought it won't work due to the different characteristics of the text. Maybe, its need your magic touch.

I will try to write a code on it as there are about 12 sheets with 150 rows in a workbook.

    Thanks Always, kun
