    Partial Derivatives (Excel 2003)

My son is working a project that requires math of partial derivatives. Does anyone know if Excel is capable of these type of operations? Is there any add-in that provides this capability if it is not native to Excel?
    TIA

Dedicated mathematics software is probably a better tool than Excel for this. Well-known examples are Maple, Mathematica and MatLab.

    Mark,

Hans is correct, but you could try this site http://math.la.asu.edu/~kawski/classes/mat.../EXCELrite.html. It has a lot (simple) of classroom examples that you could extend yourself.
