Unable to access hidden shapes (2000 sp-3/ 98SE)

I've been passed a workbook to modify, which was based on a custom template and referenced various add-ins. I've managed to strip out most of the extraneous stuff, but still find a list of (presumably) inline shapes that I can't locate to delete. Several have a type value of 17, which I can't identify as a standard "mso" shape, but appears to be a textbox. Others I can't access from the sheet, but I believe are associated with the popup messages that appear when the cells marked "<font color=red>HERE</font color=red>" are clicked. I'm thinking they may have been created with the Forms Toolbar.

Can anyone please help me with some insight as how to "get to" these elusive elements?

The popup messages are from Data | Validation, Input Message tab.

Select Edit | Go To..., click Special..., select Objects, then click OK to select all 11 shapes on the worksheet. Alternatively, activate the Drawing toolbar and activate the Select Objects button. You can now select objects by drawing a rectangle on the sheet. Don't forget to turn off Select Objects when you're done.

Thanks Hans. That should get me on my way. I think I tried looking everywhere except data validation, but it's things like this that make me realize how little I use the UI, compared with VBA. I really must have a good look around one day. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

You may be interested to look at the Object Navigator in Navigator Utilities which finds all the objects in a workbook, lists them in a listbox, provides details such as whether they are visible or not, where they arem how big they are and a display of what they look like, all on a userform. NU is a free download at http://www.robbo.com.au
