Vienna - The biggest chocolate bar in the world. A record for those with a sweet tooth: The biggest chocolate bar in the world weighs more than four thousand, four hundred and ten pounds. It was the main attraction at the fifteenth International Milka Chocolate Festival on July 11, 1998 in the Alpine town of Bludenz, the location of the Milka chocolate plant in Austria. Thirty thousand festival guests were on hand when skiing star Anita Wachter unveiled this largest, most tender temptation of all time in five metre by two metre size.

How did you change the letters so fast?

<img src=/S/whisper.gif border=0 alt=whisper width=29 height=17> <span style="background-color: #FFFF00; color: #FFFF00; font-weight: bold">If I had taken the time to make a true cryptogram (where letter substitutions were random), then yes, the URL would have offered a huge clue... But these tangled puzzles are done by shifting the alphabet a certain number of characters. Hans, Stuart and some of the other loungers have some VBA code that untangles these things in less than a second! They could have solved it just as quickly with or without the URL clue. The puzzle wasn't intended to be a real challenge </span hide>

Here's a crypto on steroids. <img src=/S/wink.gif border=0 alt=wink width=15 height=15> Still not that difficult but it clearly belongs in the "pain in the <img src=/w3timages/censored.gif alt=censored border=0>" column. AFAIK, no one has the VBA to decipher this one... yet!

I think the last character is off by one.

Yes it was. I didn't have a UDF to do the trickery on this one.

    Re: Got a sweet tooth?

Now you've got to tell me... once you spotted the pattern, did you complete the substitutions letter by letter or did you write some quick and dirty Word code to complete the task?

    Re: Got a sweet tooth?

No VBA, just fairly simple Excel worksheet functions.

I didn't keep the worksheet, but it was something like...
Row 1 had the letters from your original
    Row 2 had CODE(A1) etc
Row 3 had the series 3,5,7,9,11 etc.
    Row 4 was MOD(row3, 26)
Row 5 was (Row 2 - Row 4) with 26 added if the result was less than 97
Row 6 was CHAR(A5) etc, which was the result

I didn't exactly spot the pattern, I assumed that the first few characters were http://www and used the same Excel worksheet functions to display the pattern.
