    Line Numbering (Word 2K)

I'm writing a report to our Board of Trustees and the reports must be line numbered. In this particular report there are several tables. Most of the tables are not of sufficient size to take up an entire page, so the text before and after the table (descriptors, mostly) are numbered and I don't want that. I only want the actual "report text" to be numbered, not the table descriptions. I searched and did find one entry where someone was actually having the opposite problem, wanting the table itself numbered, as well as the text, which Word won't do.

So-is there a way to turn line numbering on and off or to hide it in specific places??

    Thanks!

Line numbering works at the section level, so if you insert section breaks (continouous or new page, as appropriate) before and after the tables, you can turn off line numbering for specific sections.
