Portmanteau's

Portmanteau words are formed by blending two words together. Can you decipher the (legal and commonly used) blended word from the clues in the following sentences.

1. He was executed with electricity.
2. The star was detected by its pulsating radio waves.
3. The TV show dramatised real events.
4. The motorcar stopped in front of the hotel.
5. He worked hard to buy his alcohol.
6. He changed an element of the picture.
7. The camera was able to record the action.
8. The information was provided by entertainment.

The previous 8 sentences provided the words that could be joined to create the blended word. The following 5 provide just a statement. See if you can identify the appropriate Portmanteau word by the following statements.

9. An uncalculated figure
10. A lifelike robot
11. A fact based story
12. To laugh gleefully
13. A magazine for devotees

Hi Leif...haven't heard from you for a while!

1 and 13 are perfect!

I'll come back to you on 10 as I think there is a better answer! (I have to check the FanzineI subscribe to to get the actual answer! The reason I query your answer is : Human (1st word) and oid? what word does this come from. Void ? meaning a human with a void...what? void of life??? I'll post the answer from the magazine tomorrow!

Cheers

Rudi

Leif,
Humanoid is a good answer and one I'm accepting as correct due to the way the question was stated. The answer from the actual puzzle is Animatronic - Latin Animatus (animate) and Greek Electron (electronic)...
