nON BLANK VALIDATION! (Excel 2000 >)

    Hi,
I cant recall if its possible via validation to disallow a blank cell. IE...In a record type into a list, I want to prevent a cell from remaining blank...a value MUST be typed into it! I tried an expression like: =NOT(ISBLANK(A1))...and some variants...but all allow the cell to be left blank. Any help on how to do this again??
    Tx
    Regards,
    Rudi

    Hi,
I found <post#=392,131>post 392,131</post: >. But I'm not sure what the conclusion is here. Is there no way via validation to prevent users from NOT filling in a value!!??

    Watch that Caps Lock key! <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Validation will only kick in if the user edits the cell, i.e. if (s)he edits the value, then clears it using backspace, the validation warning will be displayed, but not if the user simply clears the cell.

You'd need a worksheet event handler to do this, but even that is tricky. Access would be a better application if you need required fields.
