What program are you using to view the document? Have you checked the program preferences/options?

Are you in Normal view? If so, try switching to Print Layout view.

Hans, I had realized that in Print Layout it's okay, but I work most usually in Normal. it seems that I am stuck with either zooming or being slightly off-kilter at 100% view.

    Thanks.

Since you have all that screen real estate, you could increase the width of the style area in the View tab of Tools | Options... to - say - 2 inches. Being able to see the paragraph styles can be useful.

Clever idea. To be an ingrate, I really don't like to see the styles: I find it distracting. I like as uncluttered a screen as possible. But, I AM grateful for the suggestion.

    Thank you.
