    repair trackball explorer

Can anyone tell me how to take a MS Trackball Explorer mouse apart? There is one screw on the bottom but removing it doesn't seem to do anything.

There are probably some internal clips holding the body together. You might have to pry it apart with a small screwdriver. Be patient, persistent, and have a gentle touch to try not to snap anything important, that's about all I can tell you.

Check for further screws hidden under labels or pads, the removal of which may invalidate any warranty.
Is there a specific reason you want to get inside it?

along the lines of what Leif said... my optical mouse has screws under the 4 pads.. and with some patience you can get them out without having to even re-glue the pads down.

Thanks for the responses. I want to take it apart because I have two, one of which was damaged by my youngest daughter beating it against the table the computer sits on--she's probably going to go into marriage counselling some day--and the other has a problem with the cable which causes it to work erratically at times. Between the two I might be able to salvage one good one. Before I took the pads off I hoped to find out if there really were screws underneath. I will take a look and let you know what I find out.

There are four additional screws under the pads. They are of different lengths so keep track of which hole they come out of.
