    Recent Zips (XP SP2)

Windows XP doesn't track Zip files that you have created or opened in its 'Recent Documents'. However if you install a third-party app - eg WinZip, it does track them. So has anyone any idea how to pursuade Windows to track these using its own 'Compressed file' facilities?

Windows XP treats items with extension .zip as folders, not as documents. Installing WinZip changes the way .zip items are treated. There may be third-party utilities that also do this, but you may lose Windows XP's native compression features in doing so.

But does not Windows keep folder shortcuts in the Recent folder, too?

It does, but I don't know how to tell Windows to include them in the Recent Documents list.
