    Read Only Folder

I just copied Public, our main working folder from our old NT server to our new Win 2003 server. The folder is now marked Read Only and when I try to uncheck that attribute it cycles through every folder and subfolder and finishes. If I exit and then re-examine the properties of Public, it's still Read Only. I've played with the Security tab and gotten rid of the inheritances. User have full control but the folder is still Read-Only.
    Help, please

    Re: Read Only Folder

Search the XP lounge for "read only folder". The same discussion applies to Win 2003. Also, see You Cannot View or Change the Read-Only or System Attribute of Folders.

Attribute Changer is a neat little utility and it's <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> . It adds itself to the context menu for drives, folders and files.

    Re: Read Only Folder

Thanks for all the suggestions. I mucked around with permissions, et al, and got the users full permission to the folder. Interesting that the folder itself remains Read Only. I'll use that Attribute Changer next time.
