    Default Browser (IE 6)

I installed Mozilla firefox and it became my default browser. I Now want IE to be the default again. In spite of checking the box that IE should check to see if it is the default browser and unchecking the box in Mozilla.
Mozilla continues as the default browser. Is there anything else I can do to get IE to be my default browser again
    Thanks

I think after you check the box in IE you need to close IE and open it again, and it should ask you whether you want it to take over as your default browser. If it doesn't ask, or if it can't make itself the default browser, there probably is a "manual" way to change the file associations (but I don't remember it!).

As a start, check in the registry, ( regedit ) and drill down to :

HiKeyLoc Machine>software>clients>StartMenuInternet. The next subkey should be IExplore.exe and it should show as default.

Usually, checking the box that says "IE should check to see if it is the default" and rebooting should do the trick?

IExplore.exe did show default. Checking the box and rebooting didn't seem to help. Any other ideas

Have you tried 'Set Program Access and Defaults'?

It may be in your Start Menu, otherwise open the Add/Remove Programs control panel. It should be the 4th option..
