reformat? (Word 2000)

When i copy text from the Notepad into a new Word document, the text is not fromatted equally, the lines are not full, there are extra spaces between the lines.
For example, the horizontal lines do not take the whole line foreseen in the Word, and i have to use the Delete key to make the text fill the gaps.
How can i make the text in the Word cocument be refromatted so as to fill in all the space in the document?

This happens if you use Notepad like a typewriter, pressing Enter at the end of each line. Even in Notepad, this is not necessary, you can turn on Word Wrap in the Format menu. Notepad will then automatically move text to the next line when necessarily, you only need to press Enter if you want to start a new paragraph.

    You can try the following:

Position the insertion point at the start of the document.

Select Edit | Replace (or press Ctrl+H)

Type ^p^p in the 'Find what' box (^p is the code for a paragraph end, so ^p^p means two paragraph ends).

Type @@@@ (or some other text that isn't likely to occur in the document) in the 'Replace with' box.

Click 'Replace All'.

Change the text in the 'Find what' box to ^p.

Change the text in the 'Replace with' box to a space.

Click 'Replace All'.

Change the text in the 'Find what' box to @@@@ (the same as used above)

Change the text in the 'Replace with' box to ^p.

Click 'Replace All'.[/list]Word should now have joined consecutive lines.

One other tip is to turn off Word Wrap in Notepad and resize the window (this should "re-flow" the text so that any artificial line breaks are removed) before copying and pasting.
