NAV 2005

I just installed NAV 2005 yesterday.

Today, I tried removing an external USB drive.
I could not do so until I went into NAV and fiddled with the Protected Recycle bin options.

Did not see this issue described in the not very complete user's guide accompanying the software. Tho, I could have missed it.

I would think that such an issue should be described somewhere.
Guess, I'll have to go to the Symantec KB.

yep.

Are you sure you are talking about NAV 2005, not NSW 2005?
The only mention I have about Protected Recycled bin is in Norton Utilities. Nothing in NAV.

Re: NAV 2005

It's in Options | Advanced Tools.

Did not find anything at the KB.

It's a nasty feature as it prevents removing an external drive.
THis must be documented someplace, anybody trying to swap a USB drive would be affected,

Would you be so kind as to point it out to me. I can't seem to locate it in my copy of NAV 2005. Here's a screenshot of the Options window.

Re: NAV 2005

Must be in the stand alone version of NAV.
I have NSW 2005 and options for Protected Recycle Bin are in Norton Utilities portion only, not in AV. .

Edited to add: I have the same options page that Doc has.

Re: NAV 2005

Bob and Doc,

There are TWO versions of NAV - the single user version and the "Professional" or "3 User Pack". The Protected Recycle Bin is not included in the single pack, but it IS in the multiple user version. Actually, that extra feature was introduced in the 2004 version.

Re: NAV 2005

No problem Doc. I clued in to this as I have copies of both single licence and multiple licence versions on a few different computers. Why on earth Symantec would include the Recycle Bin mini app in an Anti Virus package is beyond me . Perhaps just an extra tidbit for those who forked out the few extra bucks.

My NAV 2005 is version 11.0.11.4.
Perhaps, you did not install the program updates?

Re: NAV 2005

Didn't cost any extra
$19.99, after rebates.
Gives license for 3 PCs, so cheaper on a per PC basis.
And I beieve there was an even better rebate about a week later.
