Merging Word and Powerpoint (or multiple word docs (2000)

All right, let's see how to explain this.... I have many word documents 500-600(ish), that must be merged into 3 groups. The three groups are already in separate folders (one folder of 100, one of 200, and one of 300). They are all in a specific format, (the tab stops are the same, etc), however I would like to merge each folder into one powerpoint document (with as many slides as there are word documents). These slides have a custom format. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. If I have to do this manually....well, let's hope I don't have to.

You'll have to provide information on how the Word documents are to be converted into slides. What is the layout of the Word docs?

Re: Merging Word and Powerpoint (or multiple word docs (2000)

    Hans,
Two docs in zip file - word doc (basic format) and .ppt template (to which all the word documents need to be converted to). I know that VBA won't replace the human intelligence that will need to decipher some aspects, however it will move the bulk of the information, which is exactly what I need it to do. If I could move the word docs into Access, I could create a report that will achieve the same result as the ppt, in a much cleaner format (I think)....but I don't know how to import all the word documents into Access, either).....any suggestions are *still* greatly appreciated.

Have you considered creating an Access table with OLE objects where you store the Word documents? You can either choose to store the documents in the table, or you can link to their current location. There are potential issues with database bloat, but with a bit of clever design you should be able to make it work, especially if the documents are relatively small.

    Wendell,
In essence that's what I"m trying to do, however I want to import the information from the files, not the files themselves <img src=/S/brickwall.gif border=0 alt=brickwall width=25 height=15>....I'm sure it will prove exceedingly difficult if you check out the attachment (there is a table, as well as a text box - each cell in column 2 must be imported, as well as all info in the main text box).

The attached Access database (zipped) contains a table tblCertificate and a module basCode with a procedure to import data from all Word documents in a speciified folder into the table. You can use the table as a basis for forms, reports etc.

Note: there is a reference to the Microsoft Word 10.0 Object Library. Since you use Office 2000, you will probably have to clear this reference, and set one to the version 9.0 library instead in Tools | References in the Visual Basic Editor.

The Citation field may need to be processed a bit further before being useful.

I'm sorry, repaired now, I hope. The Lounge is behaving very erratically for me at the moment, it's hard to post anything.

I'll work on the rest, but this is spectacular! Thank you so much.
