How to delete prog from desktop (XP Home SP2 all updates)

Certain I've seen this prob before in the Lounge but cant find the solution....I downloaded Picasa 2 onto desktop then run and installed it ok, created short cut on desktop, and have run from the shortcut and used Picasa 2 no problem. Copied Picasa 2 set up from the desktop to a CD (to have it handy or if any friends might like to give it a go without using an internet connection) Now I want to delete the Picasa 2 set up from the desk top but when I rt click>delete I get the message ( screen shot) also trying shift+delete shows the same thing. What am I doing wrong?

    Jeff,

Do you want to delete the desktop shortcut or the whole program?
Try to run Start>run>type in msconfig> OK and look in the startup files to see if Picassa is mentioned there. If so, disable it in msconfig and reboot.

    Then try to delete it.

No tried msconfig and not in start up. Dont want to uninstall the programe nor delete the shortcut to it. Picasa is in crogram files OK. I want rid of the whole thing that I downloaded to the desktop initially, now that it is installed

Have you tried to drag the icon into the recycle bin?

Why don't you want to uninstall it?

Download a copy of Dr. Delete and use it to delete the file. If the file(s) are in a folder use it to delete the files and then when the files are gone you will be able to delete the folder. HTH <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
