Compress Pictures does not work :( (Word XP SP3)

    Hi,

I am working on a document with lots and lots of cropped screen prints. i thought that i could click on the compress picture tool bar, make sure "delete cropped area of picture" was selected ok it and word would get rid of the cropped areas of my screen prints, but when i re crop the images to see if it has worked i can still see the area of the pictures that should have been discarded.

any one have any ideas? is this a problem with work or am i just thick?

It depends on how the pictures have been inserted. See the first threads in this newsgroup search.

I'm using Word 2003 and that button works as expected for me.

Did you check the options in the dialog carefully? Verify what you selected in 'Apply to' and that the option for 'Delete cropped ares of pictures' was selected too.

thanks for you help. because i have simply hit print screen and then done a ctr+v to paste the images it looks like the crop feature does not work. also it appears that the images must be set to float and not be inline with text (most of my screen shots are inline with text) according to the news groups you have to insert the images as jpgs. i am not going to mess around with my current document but its nice to know for the future.
