Media Player won't update

textWhen I try to run the Windows Media Player v7 download, it hangs with "The Windows Media Update Notifier is currently not available. Try again later." Then it just exits the installer. This is consistent no matter where I download the file from. Any ideas? Or, any other ways to get Media Player?

Re: Media Player won't update

Just in case anyone was interested: this was solved by the email support folks at Compaq.
If this happens to you, you need to re-expand the msxml.dll file from your original installation disk into the windowssystem folder. Then go to Start, Run, and type:
"regsvr32 c:windowssystemmsxml.dll"
You should get a message that the operation succeeded.
Media Player should then install/upgrade normally.

Thanks for the info.

This will help future users with the same problem. Nice thing about a searchable board is that the info does not get lost.
