can't right click to open unregisterred file types
<img src=/S/bummer.gif border=0 alt=bummer width=15 height=15>When I try to right click and open an unregisterred file type in windows explorer (any unregisterred file type), I get the normal "open with" dialog box which asks what program I want to use to open the file. When I choose a program and click on the "always use this file ..." check box, I get another "open with" dialog box with the "always use this file ..." check box unchecked, which then allows the file to be opened. I can create file associations fine using "view, folder options, file types". Anyone run into this problem?

Re: can't right click to open unregisterred file types
Found out what the problem was - some erroneous listings in my registry.
I looked in the registry and found HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT*shellopenascommand with a default value of rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL "%1" .
Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareCLASSES*shellopenascomma nd the default was rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL "%1"
Under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTUnknownshellopenascommand the default was C:WINDOWSrundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL %1
The first two entries are non standard in win98 and the last one is ok. After deleting the first two and leaving the last one, it works ok.
I suspect some tweak program set these up.
