    Remote Desktop local printers (SP2)

    Hi everyone,

We have recently setup Remote Desktop Connections to our Small Business Server 2003.

When accessing from different XP computers, some or all the local printers are not visible, despite selecting the "local printers" in the RDC Options.

On XP computer1, remotely accessing across the internet - no local printers are visible

On XP computer2, remotely accessing across the LAN, the local parallel connected HP printer & HP network printer are visible, but an Oki network printer is not. (not a big problem)

On XP computer3, remotely accessing across the LAN, the local parallel connected HP printer is NOT visible, but the shared HP parallel printer connected to computer2 is visible.

On XP computer4, remotely accessing across the internet - the shared local printer connected to another PC is visible.

My biggest problem is the XP computer1 as it

Take a look at this article (book chapter) and see if it helps.

    Thanks Doc,

That article/chapter was very well written & amazingly I understood it. :-)

My problem was that the Terminal Server requires the client's printer driver to be installed so that it can generate the print job. Once generated it sends that job to the client's printer.

Although I haven't tested it for the boss' computer (that will be tonight), the other missing printers on the LAN have now been resolved by installing the driver on the terminal server.

    Thanks for your help.

    Regards,

    Matthew
