    Character value (Access XP)

I am having a maddening moment. I have just taken on a new responsibility for a new database system. I have been provided with an extract of a table which I need to reconcile against another db system as a quality check.

Background in the main system, when someone requests details on an address a message box pops up with the address in 4-5 lines. When the data is presented to me in a table it appears these 4-5 lines of addresses are held in seperate fields and then concatanated into another field (mainAddress). In the mainAddress field the address string has (what I assume are ) carriage return characters so that they can be displayed on the message box. I want to remove these characters so I can continue with a matching exercise.

I am trying to ascertain the char value of these characters so that I can do a replace in SQL. I have isolated the characters in a query field but now have completely forgotten how to find their value, can you help please?

Use the Asc function - it'll give you the ASCII value.

    [slap my forehead] smiley

That's the one : Asc(Right([address],1)) now tells me 13...unlucky for some
