Where's my 'mail arrived' symbol (Win XP Pro (SP2

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.

The letter symbol that notifies you visually that new mail has arrived, and which appears in the system tray, seems to have disappeared altogether. I've tried right-clicking on the taskbar and calling up the 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties'/'customise/notification, and my 'e-mail notification' appears in 'past items'.

Anyone got any idea how I re-instate this notification? (I tried 'Start/Run/msconfig/startup' but got no joy.)

    If you're using Outlook:

Select Tools | Options... (in Outlook)
    Activate the Preferences tab.
    Click E-mail Options...
    Click Advanced E-mail Options...
Tick the check box "Show an envelope in the notification area" in the "When new items arrive in my Inbox" section.

If you're using Outlook Express, it seems the best you can do is:

To receive audio notification of new messages

On the Tools menu, click Options.
On the General tab, select the Play sound when new messages arrive check box.

    Ita, esto, quidcumque...
