    Sorting problem (Access 2000)

I have a crosstab query that I want to sort in descending order by a particular Row Heading column containing a calculation, but it is sorting the results as strings rather than as numbers, ignoring any minus signs.

For example, it is sorting as follows.
    -30523
    2996
    -27939
    2631

How can I get it to sort this as follows?
    2996
    2631
    -27939
    -30523

Try changing the column in the query to a calculated column:

    Alias: Val([FieldName])

where FieldName is the name of the field, and Alias is the new name of the column.
