    Synchronizing OL2k

    Hi everyone,
I looked through old postings on this issue and I don't want to belabor the point <img src=/S/bash.gif border=0 alt=bash width=35 height=39>, but I wanted to see if there was any advice about a creative solution to the following issue:

I want to sync my OL2k PST file btwn my desktops at work and home (both using Win98SE). I can go from home to work by putting my 110MB .PST file on a CD-RW and copying it onto my work machine, but I don't have a means to transfer that large of a file from work to home. Should I just create a new email folder at work, then export only that folder to a PST file on floppy disk (or email it to myself?). That seems like the only solution, but it creates a major filing headache every night if I have to re-file the emails in their appropriate folders on my home machine. Any thoughts on a creative solution?

    many thanks <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>,

    Erik

    Re: Synchronizing OL2k

i'd probably make a matching pst with the same folder setups and move the mail you need over to the correct folders. unfortunately, if you have a lot of folders, it can be time consuming.

alternate method: folders in the windows file system, drop the messages in the folders and move them. you can use a filter program like exlife to save the messages to the file system.

Actually, rules wiz or exlife might make the entire process easier - if they can copy mail based on date.

    Re: Synchronizing OL2k

Thanks for the help. I'm not sure I want to set up a complete hierarchy of empty mail folders, since I have about 60 different folders & sub-folders. But if I keep all new mail in the inbox at work and export it to a PST, I can run rules wizard at home for quick filing.

Email is probably the easiest fix here... But is there a way for OL to sort calendar and contact entries by when they were created? That's my real challenge, I think.

    But thanks again for the help. <img src=/S/cheers.gif border=0 alt=cheers width=30 height=16>

Yes, use views. Create a table view and include the modified field. you can sort on it.
