    Using Help (MSO 2003 SR-1)

Is there any way to have the help in Outlook revert back to the "old way"? -- I select "F1", and instead of the panel and stuff I get just the (chm) file, that I can then bookmark etc.?

The Assistant is neat, but just a reference would be nice as well...

    Regards,

    Hi Chuck
Not sure that you can, but does this provide an option?
    Show offline content
To set your preferences for using Microsoft Office Online content, do the following:

On the Help menu, click Microsoft <Program Name> Help to display the <Program Name> Help task pane.
Under See also in the task pane, click Online Content Settings.
In the Service Options dialog box, do one or more of the following:
To show offline Help topics first when searching, clear the Search online content when connected check box.
To show offline Help topics only and to turn off all links to Microsoft Office Online, clear the Show content and links from Microsoft Office Online check box.
Note These settings apply to all of your Office programs, however they will not take effect in any open Office program until you restart the program.

    Paul:

It does help the accessing of the Help...

But I still haven't found the one thing I used most often: bookmaking areas of interest...

    Sigh...

    Thanks for your help...

Re: Using Help (MSO 2003 SR-1)

Bookmarking and annotating help items were features of the "old" Windows help files (.hlp) used in Office 97 and earlier. Starting with Office 2000, Microsoft has provided HTML help files (.chm) that do not offer these features. There is no way to convert the .chm files to .hlp files, and even if it were possible, they wouldn't work from within Office 2003 applications.

    Hans:

As they say -- Oh Pooh...

MS is keeping it's perfect score of taking away one (or maybe two) for each "thing" they give you new...

BTW, I though my (old) Outlook 2000 did it as well... Probably not...

    Thanks,
    Chuck
